She's Leaving Home.... Bye Bye

Hey there guys! What has been going on this past couple of weeks?

  • 10 days in hospital - first and Mirrabook and then at Wollongong PECC unit
  • A BRILLIANT recovery experience at the PECC (Psychiatric Emergency and Crisis Care) unit
  • A new (short-medium term) home in Nowra - with walking distance to everything that I need
  • The chance of a long-term stable home (still in the process)
  • A reworking of my finances to a place where I can manage them much more effectively
  • A change in my acute and recovery care models
  • A greater understanding of Borderline Personality Disorder and how it fits in with Major Clinical Depression
  • A chance to set goals and start moving towards bringing some of my dreams into reality
AND
  • A chance to see Casey Donovan and Toni Child's in concert!!!
So yes - a big week.

Moving forward...

But I bet Ms Gillard cannot make THIS claim to fame:

I can now officially say that 18 months on... my recent past of extreme suicidality is now squarely IN THE PAST!!!

April 2009 was the last of my 21 suicide attempts - 16 between 2006 and 2009 al- each of varying levels of lethality - my final one probably the most severe...

But the grin cannot be wiped off my face as I contemplate the magnitude of this milestone for me personally and knowing that every time this milestone grows, it is becoming a FANTASTIC reminder of where I have been as compared to who I am today which only excites me even more as I contemplate what future is in store for me!

Thankyou to everyone for their support - and for those of you who still doubt? Just watch me now!!!

Fi's Excellent Adventure!

> Here's me! I am not generally a big fan of photos of myself - it is quite outside of my comfort zone to share most of them - but this one I like! Maybe because the smile indicates that I am actually happy instead of just smiling for the camera because that is what you're supposed to do!

"Why is Fi so happy", you ask?

Well I will respond with some questions of my own! - "What can you see in the background of the photo? Would that be the setting of a NSW Cityrail diesel train out of Bomaderry? Hmmm.... And could it be the first Saturday of the NSW school holidays?"

YES!!!! I am on my way to Broadmeadow to get the kids! Can you tell that I'm excited??? Lol!

It's been six months since they've been to Nowra and I am so excited to have them at my place again! Nanna and Poppy are revved too I think!

Later today I will be posting links to our latest blog updates (I have been a little slack in the past few weeks!) When you see that the linkies have actually been linked to a hyperlink then you will know that the blog update is done!

Another week - another post

But this one is a little different...

The last few weeks have been really rough - I have been processing a whole lot of stuff and all of it has been quite significant! Thankfully this coming week though is filled with physical distraction which should give my poor mind a much needed sabbatical!

You will find updated posts this week in:

Fi's Friendly Family (look under Leah's Life, Hannah's Happenings, Caleb's Childhood and Griffiths Memoirs - its all happening lol!)

Enjoy the rumage through my mind - and as ever - if you have any questions - just email me ;)

DEFINITELY not a teacher!

Well tomorrow marks the second of my two work experience days of being a teacher librarian at our local school...

It was fun last week working with a range of kids from Kindy right through to Year 6. They are all so bright and inquisitive! But leaving work at 1:30pm I did feel exhausted... I really loved the K-2s but I found the 3-6s to be really hard work - if you weren't right on top of some of them they would just divert their attention...

While I love the kids I am fairly sure that I couldn't operate at their speed everyday! So check that one of the list...

I DON'T want to be a primary teacher or a teacher librarian!

But I will still have fun tomorrow!

Blogging from a far off land...

Hmmm.... I think I may have had my head inside my fantasy novel for too much of today! :)

Travelling with a good book is almost as good as travelling with a good friend. I hardly noticed the stops fly by on the train until just outside of Canberra. The only downside was the nausea I had (and the need to put the book down) on the Countrylink bus between Albion Park and Moss Vale!

Caught up this morning with Liana over coffee and chicken nuggets (well, those were for Ronan). Maeve is absolutely gorgeous and I got some good bubba-cuddling time in with her too!

In Canberra for part of the long weekend while I reclaim my stuff from my old house here and ferry it (via a gallant knight named Bel) back to Nowra to be sorted through and tossed or stowed safely away...

Then it is in for an interesting week of appointments - but not before a couple of hours covering books at my local school. Doesn't sound too glamourous but I like it and in effect it is about all that I can do at the moment until my police check is cleared! Hopefully by the end of this week I will have a clearer picture in my mind of what will come of volunteer/paid work that my DEN is investigating on my behalf as well as a few other bits and pieces I have up my sleeve...

Hope this finds you all well.
